EDMONTON – Alberta Union of Provincial Employees president Guy Smith commented on the NDP government’s Throne Speech this afternoon.
“Alberta is on a path of economic recovery and we recognize the role front-line public service workers played in providing support and stability for Albertans through difficult times.
“As we move forward, AUPE members will continue to be there for Albertans in our communities as the province grows.
“Meanwhile, questions remain on how the government intends to generate adequate revenue to provide the stable and predictable funding required to ensure the services Albertans rely on are there regardless of the economic climate.”
AUPE is Alberta’s largest union with more than 93,000 members province-wide.
