Attend a membership meeting September 6
The 2023 calendar year created a situation in which the last day before this year’s winter closure was also a day when Provincial Court is open. AUPE and Legal Aid agreed instead to the provision of an additional Bonus Day in an August 10 Letter of Understanding (LOU) detailing the 2023 winter (Christmas) closure schedule and paid holidays.
The letter states that Friday, December 22 will be a regular day of work for bargaining unit employees, but they will be provided with an additional Bonus Day (total of 3) to be used by December 31, 2023.
If the extra bonus day is unused by December 31, 2023, it will be paid out.
The 2023 Christmas closure schedule is as follows:
- Friday, December 22 – Regular day of work
- Monday, December 25 – Christmas Day paid holiday
- Tuesday, December 26 – Boxing Day paid holiday
- Wednesday, December 27 – Christmas closure day
- Thursday, December 28 – Christmas closure day
- Friday, December 29 – Christmas closure day
The LOU has been added to the collective bargaining agreement.
