One team spot remaining in Curling Funspiel
EDMONTON – Only one team spot remains in the Fifth Annual AUPE Curling Funspiel, and organizers are excited about a capacity event later this month.
“We are down to one full team spot and two individual spots available,” said event organizer Heather Seitz. “Or, if we have six individual people interested in curling, we can fill the partial team and make up the other.
“The deadline is coming fast, so anyone interested needs to contact us right away.”
The Fifth Annual AUPE Curling Funspiel will take place March 26-27 at the Spruce Grove Curling Club. A “Vegas Night” will be held following the conclusion of games on Friday, Mar. 26. Participants will be given poker chips they can use at Texas Hold ’em and Black Jack tables. At the end of the evening, participants will trade in their poker chips for entry forms, which will then be put into a draw for prizes.
The cost per team for the event is $200 or $50 per person. The fee guarantees teams three six-end games as well as the opportunity to win door prizes and an entry in the “loser’s draw.” The only restriction for entry is that each team must have a least one AUPE member or employee.
On Saturday, a full dinner will follow the final draw. There will also be a silent auction, a social and the chance to win draw-to-the-button prizes.
Following the tradition of previous years, proceeds from the event will go to a charity selected through a random draw held during the event.
Locals, companies or other organizations that would like to help sponsor the event with cash or prize donations may contact Heather Seitz at 780-930-3314 or Gil Laflamme at 780-916-5100 or 780-930-3375.
The registration deadline is March 12 at 4:30 p.m., or whenever all spots are filled.
