Court of Appeal turns down application for injunction to halt transfer of Correctional Services members to AHS
Today the Alberta Court of Appeal turned down an injunction to halt the transfer of members employed as medical services staff by the Government of Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security to Alberta Health Services. The transfer is expected to take place within the next month.

The Alberta Court of Appeal will hear an injunction application by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees on Aug. 25 to halt the transfer of Correctional Services members employed as medical staff to Alberta Health Services.
More than 300 rally to support Red Deer nursing homes
Over 300 people rallied at Red Deer City Hall Park on Aug. 10 to protest the closures of Red Deer Nursing Home and Valley Park Manor, two long-term care facilities in Red Deer. Residents of the two facilities are being moved to Extendicare’s Michner Hill facility, which will only add four long-term care beds to the area at a time when the waiting list for long-term care currently sits at 230. Speakers at the rally included AUPE President Guy Smith, Brenda Corney of Friends of Medicare’s Red Deer chapter, NDP Leader Brian Mason, and Alberta Liberal MLA Kevin Taft, among others.
