Convention

34th Annual Convention Information

The 34th Annual Convention will be held on 14-16 October 2010 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. Registration will take place on Wednesday 13 October 2010. A total of 800 delegates are expected.

The Shaw Conference Centre is located downtown at 9797 Jasper Avenue NW.

Important Deadlines

  • Sept. 3, 2010: Teletype (TTY) services requests must be received by Headquarters (Executive Office).
  • Sept. 7, 2010: Credentials must be received by Headquarters. No delegate changes will be accepted after this date. Any other delegate changes must occur at Convention during Registration with proper documentation.
  • Sept. 10, 2010: List of room requirements forwarded to Yvonne Alden at AUPE headquarters. Time-off request forms must be received by Headquarters (Executive Office).

Accommodation

The following hotels have been designated event hotels, and AUPE has blocked a number of rooms in these hotels. The numbers in brackets following refer to their locations on this downloadable Conference Centre area map. It is the Local’s responsibility to book guest rooms for their Delegates, Observers, and Provincial Executive member directly with the hotel. When booking rooms for your Local, indicate to the hotel that your rooms are part of the AUPE block. Remaining rooms in the AUPE block must be released on June 4, 2010, therefore it is imperative that your local make reservations early. Forward a copy of your room requirements to Yvonne Alden at AUPE headquarters no later than Sept. 10, 2010.

Guests

Individuals who wish to register as guests for AUPE’s 34th Annual Convention must contact the Executive Office by calling 780-930-3326 in Edmonton. Callers from outside the Edmonton area should call 1-800-232-7284, press 1, and ask for the Executive Office. The Executive Office may also be contacted by email at c.austin@aupe.org. Guests must pre-register in order to ensure that they are properly registered to attend the Convention.

Observers

Individuals who wish to register as observers of AUPE’s 34th Annual Convention must contact the AUPE Executive Office by calling 780-930-3326 in Edmonton. Callers from outside the Edmonton area should call 1-800-232-7284, press 1, and ask for Mary Guido in the Executive Office. Ms. Guido’s direct line is 780-930-3326. The Executive Office may also be contacted by email at mguido@aupe.org.

Please note that observers will receive their Convention packages at registration. Packages will not be mailed out prior to Convention.

Exhibitor information will be posted at a later date.

Convention Photos

Delegates to AUPE’s 34th Annual Convention, as well as other members, will be able to purchase photos of the event online. Instructions for getting a photographer to take a photo of your group at Convention will be provided on the Convention floor. Photos from the previous Conventions may be purchased by going to aupephoto.smugmug.com and following the instructions. Smugmug’s prices are in U.S. dollars. Please note that to the knowledge of AUPE staff, no comparable on-line service is offered by a Canadian company.
